In a sleepy Freeguild town deep in the Hinterlands of Gestran Doth did our heroes first battle against the Deathrattle hordes that plagued these lands Welcome to the Hinterlands. In this blog you'll find painted miniatures, fluff, rules and more, all for Age of Sigmar! This blog will revolve around big monthly updates, so it will hopefully be something to look forward to like a White Dwarf, but the subscription is free!
I am trying to make everything as professional looking as possible because I would love to eventually work for Games Workshop's design team :- If you followed my last blog Age of Sigmar - Siegfried's Desperadosyou can expect the same great content but this time with a widened scope.
I'll be building multiple armies now at least one for each of the Grand Alliances as well as sharing other types of media like custom battleplans and PDF downloads! So stay tuned. October - AOS Skirmish Rules - Bloodbound - Eldritch Council November - Wizards Showcase - Aspiring Deathbringer - Tournament Prep - Short Story December - Hurricanum - Knights - Heroes - Point Order Army Showcase - Tournament Report January - Hinterlands 2.
April - Triumvirates in AoS - Griffons - Podcasts - Hinterlands update! May - Coming Soon! As the blog grows, all the monthly updates will be recorded and linked to here up on the main post, hopefully making this blog a joy to navigate.
I am currently putting together October's update - which will catch up on the AoS miniatures I have painted since my last blog ended, talk about my upcoming projects and may even include a full download to narrative skirmish play I have created for Age of Sigmar, age of sigmar skirmish pdf download. I hope to update this blog soon and get started. The support you guys have shown my blogs in the past is really what drives me to better and improve them - I am hoping this one will be my best yet.
More to come Welcome everyone to the first of my monthly updates. Hopefully this will give you a good idea of what the blog will look like moving forward. For my first update I've not only got some painted miniatures to show you, but also a very special project I have been working on for quite some time; 2 full skirmish campaign modes for Age of Sigmar! There will be a free PDF with all the contained rules, age of sigmar skirmish pdf download, and hopefully you'll find it a fun book to read even if you don't play Age of Sigmar.
It's elegant like the 4 page core rules I have managed to fit a Mordhiemesque campaign into 4 pages, and a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay-style campaign into an additional 2! But a little bit more on that later in the post So in terms of painted miniatures, age of sigmar skirmish pdf download, I have started lots but finished few since my last blog ended and this one began.
The main reason being I am attending a tournament in December and have a mass production line sitting on my desk right now it's 10 Empire Knights, a Hurricanum, 3 Heroes age of sigmar skirmish pdf download Order and an Aspiring Deathbringer not to mention all the GSC but that's for another blog I have finished two miniatures however, and I am pleased to show them with you today. First up, my Slaughterpriest with Hackblade.
Slaughterpriest with Hackblade Free from September's White Dwarf, I decided to pull out all the stops on the Slaughterpriest and paint him to the best of my ability. I have been slightly obsessed with starting a Bloodbound army ever since I listened to a Bravery One podcast with Rob now of Warhammer TV fame going through all the warscrolls and thinking of synergies on the fly.
This free model was really the final push that sent me over the edge and I now have a small and growing Bloodbound army that I hope to share with you soon. I was also age of sigmar skirmish pdf download on to paint this to the best of my ability to try and win the TGA Community painting competition.
I was extremely pleased with how the model turned out. I think I pushed my skin work which is already one of my strong points and did so by including much more purple and reds in the washes, age of sigmar skirmish pdf download. I also learned a few techniques like snow basing made with baking soda and PVA glue. Sadly, I didn't win the competition. In fact I came near last with only 3 votes! So now I have a copy of Gorechosen sat on my desk to add to all my other million projects, but I think it's going to be a nice 4 month project to get one of those miniatures done a month at a time so let's pencil in February for a completion date, age of sigmar skirmish pdf download.
The icing on the cake was getting featured in the flickr pool preview on GW 's Blog. Which I always appreciate, age of sigmar skirmish pdf download, but having done so a few times now I am hoping age of sigmar skirmish pdf download something better to see myself in White Dwarf instead soon! Fingers crossed! Archmage The second model to share this month is my completed Aelfen Archmage formerly known as the Island of Blood Mage. I don't have too much to say, except this was a quick and rough paint job in my opinion, rushed through for the monthly Dakkadakka painting contest.
I took the paint scheme from the same model I found on Google Images something I quite often do. I wanted to put some interesting tones on the metals and glazed and washed them in various blues and greens. It didn't work out so well, so I won't be trying it again for the near future, haha I was very happy to get 3rd place on the monthly contest with it in the end.
All I can say is take part!! The competitions ran by Paradigm are such a great way to get small projects around your army done, and I honestly think the miniatures I get done for them would still be sitting unpainted in a box if it wasn't for the deadlines the competition sets. It doesn't detract from your main projects at all, in fact it provides a necessary bit of escapism for the hobby magpie in us all! Hinterlands: Skirmish Campaigns in the Mortal Realms - By Sam James For the last of this month's round up I have something to share with you all today which is very special to me as I have put a lot of work into this.
I present my gaming supplement for Age of Sigmar titled: Hinterlands: Skirmish Campaigns in the Mortal Realms - Version 1 Here are some screenshots of what to expect: This is a supplement to play narrative skirmish games in Age of Sigmar, and I've tried to make it look like the real deal, age of sigmar skirmish pdf download, as mentioned in my original post I would like to eventually work for GW and this will make an important piece in my portfolio.
Enclosed you will find not one, but two campaign systems outlined. The first titled 'The Hinterlands Campaign' is age of sigmar skirmish pdf download to Mordheim or Frostgrave. Players can create a Warband of a dozen models and battle it out for treasure, gaining skills and experience but also running the risk of injury and death on the way.
The rules for the Hinterlands Campaign are 4 pages long. Just like the core rules. This is not meant to be Mordheim transplanted into AoSbut a skirmish system that embraces everything I love about Age of Sigmar. You'll find Battletraits, Artefacts, and Time of War rules all have a place in the system.
On top of that, the book also introduces a second way to play; the Realm Master Campaign. The Realm Master Campaign is an additional 2 pages of rules plus a age of sigmar skirmish pdf download battleplan to set your imagination off and details how to run an RPG set in the Mortal Realms.
I would love to know your feedback and thoughts on the rules contained, age of sigmar skirmish pdf download. And if you want to use them, please do! This is what they are here for! So far the reaction to this has been fantastic. I released in on Twitter and on TGA a little over 24 hours ago. Moving forward I plan to keep working on this book and you'll see later sections develop here age of sigmar skirmish pdf download this blog. I will be adding in a hobby section with example Warbands and also a Warband Roster to age of sigmar skirmish pdf download manage your games.
So even if you're just here to see painted minis, there should be lots of interesting things happening here for you. Here's the download link: Hinterlands Skirmish Campaigns - Download Link I would love to hear any feedback! Well, that's it for October. As mentioned above I am working on a lot of AoS ready for a tournament in December, and will try and post some WIPs in here before the next big update by which point I need everything finished!
Thanks for all your comments and support as always! Thanks for all the kind comments guys. The winner of the Slaughter Priest painting comp was truly impressive link. I think my low age of sigmar skirmish pdf download was due to the fact it was unconverted and in the standard paint scheme, there were tons of cool conversions that also earned themselves lots of votes. I'm glad the ruleset has been so well received by people so far.
I am hoping to add to it in the future, but for age of sigmar skirmish pdf download it's all about getting ready for my next tournament! I am really not enjoying painting the Hurricanum so far, let's hope it gets more enjoyable as it progresses!
I'll try and get some WIPs up once I have got something a bit more substantial. Hey everyone, here is the second of my monthly installments for the new blog. I've got lots to share with you so get comfortable and enjoy the ride! It's been go-go-go for me this month hobby-wise as I prepare for my second AoS tournament, ' Age of Santa ' in Cardiff this December.
With under a month to go and still lots to do I wouldn't be lying if I said I am a teeny bit stressed! My main goal for this tournament is to get a painting nomination - I would also like to win at least one game - hopefully the Hurricanum can help with both of those. But more on that later I love collecting and painting heroes for Age of Sigmar and have amassed many more heroes than one would ever reasonably need for army selection.
